Mastering The LSAT
– A Complete Career Counselling and Law Admissions Course

Guest Speakers - May 2006

The LSAT instructional component of the Mastering The LSAT is supplemented by guest speakers. This year we are allowing participants in any of our LSAT courses to attend these events. In the past our guest speakers have included: lawyers, law professors, career counsellors and occasionally law students from various schools.

The perspectives and advice they offer is invaluable.

Terrie-Lynne Devonish, LL.B. - Of The Bar Of Ontario

Terrie-Lynne Devonish is General Counsel at a Canadian telecommunications company and also worked previously as an associate at a large Bay Street firm. Her achievements include a recent appointment to the Board Of Governors of York University.

Tapas is a Toronto sole practitioner specializing in the area of intellectual property law. Learn some of the dos and don'ts of effective law school applications. You will also discover how to prosper as a sole practitioner and carve out a specialty.

Sunday May 28, 2006 - 12:00 noon - Your First Law School Class

Professor Philip Slayton

Participate in your first law school class! This will be an amazing event for any pre-law student. Philip Slayton is a former professor and dean of the law school at the University of Western Ontario. He also practiced for many years at a large Toronto law firm. He will teach a first year contracts class using a real case. This is a must attend event for anybody seriously interested in law school. But you have to read and study the case in advance! (The case will not be distributed at the event.)

Peter is a member of the bars of Ontario and Michigan and works as an "in-house counsel" for a Toronto firm. He is a graduate of the law school at Michigan State University and attended Osgoode Hall law school. He will entertain you with stories about his law school experience and tell you how he attended a U.S. law school and was admitted to the bar of Ontario.

Saturday June 10, 2006 - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon - Joint Law Degree Programs

Why go to law school and get just one degree? Three of the six Ontario law schools now have joint LL.B./J.D. programs. These programs allow you to earn both U.S. and Canadian law degrees. Representatives from various law schools will be attending to explain their programs and to answer questions. WE HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE THIS EVENT A FREE EVENT!! SO FEEL FREE TO JUST SHOW UP! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY!The final list of participants will probably not be finalized until June 9, but for the moment you can expect:

Eligibility to attend: These short courses and seminars are available both Richardson LSAT students and Non-Richardson LSAT students as follows:

Richardson LSAT Students: If you have paid in full or are attending any Richardson LSAT program you are free to just show up. You may pay for a Richardson LSAT course in full at the start of a seminar and attend for free.

Non-Richardson LSAT Students: You may attend any one of these seminars at a cost of $50 per seminar. Alternatively you may participate in all of the above seminars for a one time fee of $200. Pre-registration is not necessary but payment must be made in cash at the door.
